Description: Aruba wired switch ArubaOS-CX mDNS/Bonjour gateway service discovery configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARUBAWIRED-MDNS-MIB?

ARUBAWIRED-MDNS-MIB is an Aruba (HPE) MIB for the ArubaOS-CX wired switch family, covering configuration of the mDNS/Bonjour gateway service-discovery relay feature. It primarily exposes configuration-oriented data controlling how the switch relays multicast DNS service discovery announcements (e.g. for AirPlay, printers, or other Bonjour-based devices) across VLAN boundaries. Because no sample runtime objects were provided, this module appears oriented toward feature configuration rather than hardware/software health telemetry, so its role in monitoring device status is limited to confirming the mDNS gateway feature's enabled/configured state rather than reporting CPU, memory, temperature, or fault conditions. It is a vendor-specific enterprise MIB tied to Aruba's ArubaOS-CX platform and layers on top of standard SNMP/SMIv2 conventions rather than other named MIBs. It is typically deployed in campus and branch network switches where multicast DNS traffic needs to traverse otherwise-isolated VLANs. Engineers can download the ARUBAWIRED-MDNS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-MDNS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aruba ArubaOS-CX wired switches

Monitoring Examples

Because no sample objects were supplied for this module, a concrete monitoring scenario with real object names cannot be given honestly; in general terms an administrator would be expected to check whether the mDNS gateway relay is enabled and which VLANs/interfaces it is configured to relay between, to confirm Bonjour-based service discovery is working as intended across segmented VLANs.

What Can Be Monitored

  • mDNS/Bonjour gateway enabled state
  • VLANs configured for mDNS relay
