What Is APPACCELERATION-STATUS-MIB?

APPACCELERATION-STATUS-MIB is a Citrix Systems vendor-specific MIB (under appAccelerationMgmt) for Citrix's Application Acceleration WAN-optimization appliances - the module itself does not mention NetScaler, so this is Citrix's dedicated acceleration/compression appliance line rather than the NetScaler ADC product referenced in the hint. Its wsStatusMIBScalars group reports overall unit health via wsOperStatus, wsBypass, wsHaState (standalone/primary/secondary), CPU load (wsCpuUsage), uptime, and WAN/LAN traffic volumes and compression ratios (wsWanOutOctets/InOctets, wsSendCompressionRatio, wsCompressionEffectiveBandwidth); wsStatusMIBTables then breaks performance down further with wsActiveAlarmTable (active fault conditions with severity and acknowledgement), wsServiceClassStatsTable (accelerated vs. non-accelerated traffic and bandwidth savings per service class such as HTTP/CIFS), and per-adapter, per-link, per-application, and per-QoS-class statistics tables covering sent/received volume, packets, and QoS-drop counts. Together these expose whether the appliance is actively accelerating and compressing traffic or has fallen into bypass mode, and whether any service class or link is experiencing dropped or degraded throughput. It depends on the standard INET-ADDRESS-MIB for addressing and is deployed inline on WAN links in front of the servers or branch offices whose traffic it accelerates; administrators use APPACCELERATION-STATUS-MIB SNMP monitoring of compression efficiency and bypass/alarm conditions.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APPACCELERATION-STATUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls wsOperStatus and wsBypass on the appliance, and a transition to bypassTraffic(103) / bypass(2) combined with an active entry in wsActiveAlarmTable would indicate the unit has stopped accelerating traffic due to a fault condition.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using wsWanOutOctets OID:

Select a Citrix Application Acceleration WAN-optimization appliance (legacy) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type wsWanOutOctets into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the number of accelerated octets transmitted on the WAN side. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline (in Octets), since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
