Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-MIB server health monitoring on Cisco GSLB platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES MIB module — a conformance/compatibility statement rather than a data-bearing MIB — that declares which parts of the companion CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-MIB are actually implemented by a given Cisco Global Site Selector (GSS) software release. Its single capabilities statement, ciscoGslbHealthMonCapabilityV02R00, is scoped to PRODUCT-RELEASE 'GSS 2.0' and declares support for the ciscoGslbKalNotifObjectsGroup and ciscoGslbKalNotificationGroup object groups, i.e. the KeepAlive (server health-check) notification objects and traps defined in CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-MIB. It exposes no runtime counters or gauges of its own; instead it tells an NMS or MIB compiler which health-monitoring notification groups a GSS 2.0 agent will actually emit, so management stations know in advance which GSLB server-health traps to expect rather than discovering gaps at run time. It is deployed strictly alongside CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-MIB on Cisco Global Site Selector appliances performing DNS-based global server load balancing, and network engineers reference the CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-CAPABILITY MIB when validating which KeepAlive notification objects a specific GSS software version supports.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Global Site Selector (GSS) appliances, GSS 2.0 software release

Monitoring Examples

A management application checks ciscoGslbHealthMonCapabilityV02R00's INCLUDES list before enabling handling of ciscoGslbKalNotificationGroup traps on a GSS 2.0 device; if a newer GSS release's capability statement dropped or renamed a group, traps that the NMS expects for server health-check failures would silently stop arriving.

What Can Be Monitored

  • declared support for CISCO-GSLB-HEALTH-MON-MIB object groups
  • KeepAlive (server health-check) notification object group inclusion
  • KeepAlive notification/trap group inclusion
  • product-release-specific capability scoping
