Description: Alvarion wireless device maintenance MIB for managing firmware upgrades, configuration backup, and diagnostic tools.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALVARION-MAINTENANCE-MIB?

ALVARION-MAINTENANCE-MIB is a proprietary Alvarion wireless-device MIB for managing scheduled maintenance operations, specifically automated firmware upgrades and configuration backup/restore. It exposes configuration objects controlling when and from where firmware images and configuration files are fetched, plus manual objects to trigger an update immediately. This is directly a software-version and maintenance-status MIB: firmwareUpdateInfo exposes details relevant to confirming a firmware upgrade actually succeeded, and firmwareUpdateNotificationEnabled controls whether a trap fires when an automated update completes, supporting real-time software-version and update-status tracking. It is a standalone Alvarion proprietary module typically used alongside ALVARION-SYSTEM-MIB, which reports the resulting firmware revision after an update. It is deployed on Alvarion wireless broadband base stations and subscriber units where operators push scheduled firmware and configuration updates across large numbers of remotely deployed radios. Engineers can download the ALVARION-MAINTENANCE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-MAINTENANCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alvarion wireless broadband base station/subscriber unit

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll firmwarePeriodicUpdate, firmwareUpdateDay, and firmwareUpdateTime to confirm a device's scheduled maintenance window, then check firmwareUpdateInfo afterward to verify the intended firmware version was actually applied. Setting firmwareUpdateInitiate lets an admin trigger an immediate out-of-cycle upgrade rather than waiting for the next scheduled window. Enabling firmwareUpdateNotificationEnabled means staff receive a trap on completion instead of having to poll repeatedly for status.

What Can Be Monitored

  • scheduled firmware update day/time
  • firmware update source location
  • current firmware update status/info
  • scheduled configuration backup/update settings
  • update completion notifications
