Description: Manages mobile subscriber subnet (MSUBNETS) address assignments on Alvarion BreezeACCESS base station units.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BSUMSUBNETS-MIB?
BSUMSUBNETS-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for Alvarion BreezeACCESS fixed wireless broadband systems, specifically covering the Base Station Unit (BSU) side of the network. It exposes configuration data for multiple IP subnet assignments per wireless port, allowing several distinct IP address/subnet mask pairs (up to 1024) to be associated with a single WSS port. The MIB is primarily a configuration/provisioning module rather than a hardware-health module, letting an administrator verify and audit which subnets are bound to which wireless port and catch misconfigurations such as duplicate or overlapping IP address assignments. It does not appear to depend heavily on external standard MIBs beyond basic SNMPv2 conventions, functioning as a self-contained proprietary extension. It is typically deployed in wireless ISP or fixed-broadband access networks where a single base station serves multiple subscriber subnets and operators need to manage IP addressing centrally via the base station's element management system. Engineers can download the BSUMSUBNETS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BSUMSUBNETS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aperto Networks (Ceragon) PacketWave/WiMAX base station units (BSU)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the aniBsuSubnetConfTable, iterating over aniBsuSubnetConfEntry rows to retrieve each aniBsuSubnetConfAddr and aniBsuSubnetConfMask pair configured on a wireless port. Cross-referencing entries across the table would let the operator detect two subnets whose address-plus-mask combinations overlap, which the MIB's own description states is not permitted. This is used mainly for configuration verification during subnet provisioning rather than for ongoing performance monitoring.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured subnet IP address per wireless port
- configured subnet mask per wireless port
- number of subnets assigned to a port
- subnet uniqueness/overlap across port configuration
