What Is ALVARION-TC?
This is a support MIB from Alvarion, a wireless broadband/WiMAX equipment vendor, that defines Textual Conventions, shared enumerated types and formatted data types, used across other Alvarion enterprise MIB modules. It does not itself expose monitorable objects or tables; rather it standardizes data types, such as enumerations for status codes and formats for identifiers, referenced by Alvarion's device-specific MIBs. As such it has no direct hardware/software monitoring role of its own, but it underpins consistent interpretation of status and configuration values in the Alvarion MIBs that do expose hardware/software state, such as user-account or wireless-controller MIBs. It is a foundational dependency for other ALVARION-* MIBs and must be loaded alongside them for correct parsing, so keeping the ALVARION-TC reference available is essential whenever compiling any Alvarion device MIB. It's typically deployed as a supporting/imported MIB wherever Alvarion wireless access points, base stations, or controllers are managed via SNMP.

Monitoring Examples
A NOC would not query ALVARION-TC objects directly since it defines no tables, but an SNMP compiler must load this MIB before other Alvarion MIBs, such as ALVARION-USER-ACCOUNT-MIB, can resolve their textual-convention type imports. If ALVARION-TC fails to load, dependent MIBs' status enumerations would be uninterpretable, causing a management tool to show raw integer codes instead of readable state names.
