Description: Alvarion wireless device bandwidth control MIB for managing per-subscriber rate limiting and traffic shaping policies.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALVARION-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB?
ALVARION-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB is a vendor enterprise MIB from Alvarion, a wireless broadband/WiMAX equipment vendor, for configuring per-subscriber and per-level bandwidth control policies such as maximum transmit/receive rate limits and tiered service levels. It exposes a global enable flag and rate ceilings alongside a level table defining multiple bandwidth tiers, each with its own min/max transmit and receive rate bounds. Its monitoring value is chiefly software/configuration-state oriented: confirming bandwidth control is enabled, that rate limits match the intended subscriber service tier, and spotting misconfigured levels that could throttle traffic below expected service agreements. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB without notable dependency on external standard MIBs. It is deployed on Alvarion wireless base stations and subscriber units to enforce tiered bandwidth plans for fixed wireless or WiMAX broadband subscribers. Engineers can download the ALVARION-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-BANDWIDTH-CONTROL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alvarion wireless base station/subscriber unit
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks coBandwidthControlEnable and coBandwidthControlMaxTransmitRate/coBandwidthControlMaxReceiveRate to confirm the overall rate ceiling for a device, then walks coBandwidthControlLevelTable/coBandwidthControlLevelEntry keyed by coBandwidthControlLevelIndex to verify a specific subscriber tier's coBandwidthControlLevelMinTransmitRate and coBandwidthControlLevelMaxTransmitRate match the contracted plan. A subscriber complaint of unexpectedly slow throughput could be diagnosed by finding their assigned level's max rate set lower than expected. This gives a direct link between SNMP-visible configuration and real-world subscriber bandwidth experience.
What Can Be Monitored
- bandwidth control enable state
- global max transmit/receive rate
- per-level min/max transmit rate
- per-level min/max receive rate
