Description: Huawei WLAN MIB providing information on associated wireless stations including MAC addresses, signal strength, and traffic counters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-WLAN-STATION-MIB?

HUAWEI-WLAN-STATION-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary SNMP module for wireless LAN infrastructure, covering the wireless stations (client devices) associated with Huawei access points and access controllers. Based on its description, it tracks station-level attributes such as MAC addresses, authentication method, signal strength, and traffic counters for each connected client. As a monitoring tool it is used mainly for wireless client and RF-quality visibility rather than hardware chassis health, letting administrators see which stations are associated, how they authenticated, and how much traffic they are generating. It works alongside other Huawei WLAN MIBs (e.g. AC/AP or navigator MIBs referenced by the NaviACStation naming) rather than standing entirely alone. It is typically deployed in enterprise or carrier Wi-Fi networks managed through a Huawei wireless access controller overseeing multiple access points. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-WLAN-STATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-WLAN-STATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei wireless access controller (AC)
  • Huawei access point (AP)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll the station association data to see each client's MAC address alongside its authentication method, reflected in objects like hwWlanNaviACStationAuthMethod and hwWlanStaAuthenMethod. Falling signal strength or a station repeatedly failing hwWlanStaAuthenMethod checks would flag either RF interference or a misconfigured security profile. Traffic counters per station help identify a single client saturating airtime or bandwidth on a given AP.

What Can Be Monitored

  • associated station MAC addresses
  • station authentication method
  • signal strength per station
  • per-station traffic counters
