Description: Alcatel-Lucent microwave radio link MIB for managing point-to-point microwave system parameters and performance.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALU-MICROWAVE-MIB?
ALU-MICROWAVE-MIB is a Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) proprietary MIB for managing point-to-point microwave radio links on the Nokia/ALU 7xxx series transport platform. It exposes link-level configuration such as the radio scheme in use, operational flags, and, notably, alarm state broken down by severity (critical, major, minor, warning). Its primary monitoring value is fault/hardware status of the radio link itself: the alarm state and per-severity alarm counters directly indicate whether a microwave hop is experiencing a signal or hardware fault serious enough to threaten the link. It is a standalone Nokia/ALU proprietary MIB, though it is typically used alongside the vendor's broader network-element and entity MIBs for full node management. It is deployed in telecom backhaul networks that use microwave radio links to connect cell sites or points of presence where fiber isn't available. Engineers can download the ALU-MICROWAVE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALU-MICROWAVE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7xxx series microwave radio transport equipment
Monitoring Examples
aluMwLinkTable/aluMwLinkEntry, indexed by aluMwLinkID, exposes aluMwLinkAlarmState along with severity-specific counters aluMwLinkAlarmsCritical, aluMwLinkAlarmsMajor, aluMwLinkAlarmsMinor, and aluMwLinkAlarmsWarning, letting an operator immediately see whether a given microwave hop has active critical alarms consistent with a radio outage. aluMwLinkOperFlags and aluMwLinkRadioScheme show the link's current operational mode and modulation scheme, useful context when diagnosing a degraded link.
What Can Be Monitored
- microwave link alarm state
- critical/major/minor/warning alarm counts
- link operational flags
- radio modulation/scheme in use
