Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch IPX routing MIB for managing Novell IPX network addresses, routes, and SAP services.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALCATEL-IND1-IPX-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-IPX-MIB is a legacy Alcatel proprietary OmniSwitch MIB for managing the Novell IPX routing subsystem, including static and default route configuration on the switch. It exposes tables for statically configured IPX routes (network number, next-hop network/node, tick/hop-count metrics) and default IPX routes per VLAN, with RowStatus-controlled provisioning. Its monitoring value is configuration-state visibility into the legacy IPX routing table — confirming static/default routes are correctly provisioned with expected next hops and metrics — rather than hardware health, reflecting its role supporting now-largely-obsolete Novell NetWare networking. It is a self-contained legacy protocol MIB with no significant dependency on other MIBs beyond Alcatel's own enterprise conventions. It's deployed only on older Alcatel OmniSwitch installations still supporting legacy IPX/NetWare traffic, which is uncommon in modern networks, though administrators can still download the ALCATEL-IND1-IPX-MIB file to load into their MIB browser when needed.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-IPX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch (legacy IPX/NetWare routing configurations)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator maintaining a legacy IPX network would poll alaIpxStaticRouteTable, indexed by alaIpxStaticRouteNetNum, to confirm alaIpxStaticRouteNextHopNet/Node and alaIpxStaticRouteTicks/HopCount match the intended static route configuration. alaIpxDefRouteTable, indexed by alaIpxDefRouteVlanId, shows the default IPX route configured per VLAN, checked when IPX clients on that VLAN can't reach non-local IPX networks. A missing or RowStatus-inactive entry in either table typically explains an IPX connectivity failure between segments.

What Can Be Monitored

  • static IPX route configuration
  • default IPX route per VLAN
  • IPX route next-hop and metric
  • route row status/provisioning state
