Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch trap manager MIB for managing SNMP trap filters, relay stations, and notification configurations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALCATEL-IND1-TRAP-MGR-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-TRAP-MGR-MIB is an Alcatel enterprise MIB for the 'Birds of Prey' product line (the OmniSwitch family), covering the trap manager subsystem of the switch's SNMP agent. It exposes configuration data for trap filtering by family/type, trap suppression timing, and a table of remote trap relay stations (destination IP, port, and row status). Rather than reporting raw hardware sensors, it governs how the device reports its own hardware and software fault conditions to management stations, so it directly controls the reliability of alarms about link state, environmental faults, and other subsystem failures elsewhere in the switch. It builds on the standard SNMP notification framework, layering Alcatel-specific trap-family and relay-station semantics on top of the usual SNMPv2 trap mechanism. It is typically deployed in enterprise campus networks running Alcatel OmniSwitch equipment where centralized fault management depends on correctly routed and de-duplicated traps. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-TRAP-MGR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-TRAP-MGR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel OmniSwitch switches
  • Alcatel 'Birds of Prey' product line network devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect trapConfigTable/trapConfigEntry rows (trapIndex, trapName, trapFamily, trapAbsorbPeriod) to see which trap types are enabled and how long duplicate traps are suppressed after the first occurrence. The trapStationTable/trapStationEntry rows (trapStationIP, trapStationPort, trapStationRowStatus) identify where traps are relayed; a trapStationRowStatus stuck in 'notInService' or an unreachable trapStationIP would reveal that a fault-notification destination has silently stopped receiving alerts. Polling trapAbsorbPeriod values also helps confirm that a flapping condition isn't being masked by an overly long absorption window.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured trap filters by trap family
  • trap absorption/suppression period
  • trap relay station IP address and port
  • trap relay station row status (active/inactive)
  • trap name-to-index mapping
