What Is ALU-SAR-GLOBAL-MIB?

ALU-SAR-GLOBAL-MIB is Alcatel-Lucent's (now Nokia's) top-level SNMP registration module for the 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR) family of edge/aggregation routers, defined under the shared "timetra" enterprise branch used across Alcatel's service router MIB suite. Rather than exposing monitoring data itself, it establishes the OID tree (aluServiceAggrRouters, aluSARRegistry) and product-capability identifiers (aluSARProductCapability) that the SAR platform's other functional MIBs register underneath. Its practical role in monitoring is indirect: it lets a management system identify which SAR product/hardware variant and capability set an agent implements before polling that device's chassis, interface, performance, and fault MIBs for uptime, CPU/memory load, or module/power status. It has an explicit registration dependency on the shared Alcatel-Lucent "timetra" enterprise MIB tree and the many SAR functional MIBs (chassis, card, port, alarm) that build on this global module. It is used exclusively in networks running Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia 7705 SAR edge routers as part of a larger family of TiMOS-based MIBs.
