Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch message server MIB for managing inter-module system log and diagnostic message routing.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-MSG-SRV-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-MSG-SRV-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise proprietary MIB for the OmniSwitch "Birds Of Prey" product line's internal Message Server, an inter-module component that routes system log and diagnostic messages between switch software processes. It exposes minimal global scalars for the message server's configuration status and a restart control, functioning primarily as a process health/control MIB rather than a rich data-reporting one. For device software status monitoring it lets an administrator confirm the message server process's configuration state and trigger a restart if the internal log-routing subsystem appears stalled, which is useful when internal diagnostic/log messages stop propagating correctly between switch software modules. As an internal proprietary component MIB it has no direct IETF standard equivalent. It is typically used by Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch internal management tools/support staff for diagnosing switch software health rather than by typical end-user network monitoring. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-MSG-SRV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-MSG-SRV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch (Birds Of Prey product line)
Monitoring Examples
An operator or support engineer would check alaMsgSrvGlobalConfigStatus to confirm the internal message routing service is running, and could invoke alaMsgSrvGlobalRestart to reset the subsystem if internal diagnostic logs stop being routed between switch software modules. Because this module exposes only global control scalars, there is limited granular data beyond overall service status and restart control.
What Can Be Monitored
- message server process status
- message server restart control
