Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch Edge Virtual Bridging MIB for managing IEEE 802.1Qbg virtual station interfaces and CDCP.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-EVB-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-EVB-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (OmniSwitch OS10K product line) proprietary MIB implementing the Edge Virtual Bridging (EVB) subsystem defined by IEEE 802.1Qbg, including the Channel Discovery and Configuration Protocol (CDCP). It exposes configuration and status data for virtual station interfaces (VSIs) used when hypervisor-hosted virtual machines connect through a physical switch acting as an edge virtual bridge, coordinating VLAN and channel assignment between the switch and adjacent virtualized servers. As an EVB-focused module it is largely configuration- and state-oriented, letting an administrator verify that CDCP channel negotiation succeeded and that VSI associations are correctly established between the switch port and the virtual environment, which is a form of operational status monitoring for virtualization-aware networking. It directly implements the IEEE 802.1Qbg standard, so it is conceptually dependent on that standard's protocol model even though it is expressed as an Alcatel-proprietary enterprise MIB. It is deployed in Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch OS10K data center switches supporting server virtualization environments that require dynamic VLAN provisioning to VMs. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-EVB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-EVB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch OS10K
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so specific object names cannot be cited; typically an administrator managing an EVB-enabled OS10K switch would check CDCP channel negotiation status and VSI-to-port associations to confirm a virtual machine's network interface has been correctly bridged, and would investigate failures here if a VM loses network connectivity after migration.
What Can Be Monitored
- CDCP channel negotiation status (unconfirmed, no sample objects available)
