Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch global route table MIB providing a unified view of all protocol routes across VRF instances.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-GLOBALROUTETABLE-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-GLOBALROUTETABLE-MIB is Alcatel's proprietary OmniSwitch MIB providing a single unified view of routes learned or configured across all VRF instances and routing protocols on the switch. It exposes a global route table with destination, mask length, next hop, metric, route tag, and the owning VRF name plus an ISID for service-instance tagging, consolidating what would otherwise require querying per-protocol or per-VRF MIBs separately. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/state visibility into the routing table's contents and health — confirming expected routes are present in the correct VRF and haven't been displaced by a conflicting route or protocol flap — rather than hardware status. It complements standard routing MIBs like the IETF IP-FORWARD-MIB by adding a VRF-aware, cross-protocol aggregated view that those standards-based MIBs don't provide alone. It's deployed on Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch platforms running multiple VRFs, such as multi-tenant or service-provider edge deployments. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-GLOBALROUTETABLE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-GLOBALROUTETABLE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch multi-VRF switch
Monitoring Examples
A network engineer would poll alaGrtRouteTable, indexed in part by alaGrtRouteVrfName, alaGrtRouteDest, and alaGrtRouteMaskLen, to confirm a specific customer route exists with the expected alaGrtRouteNextHop and alaGrtRouteMetric within a given VRF. alaGrtRouteTag helps identify which routing process (static, OSPF, BGP) originated a route when troubleshooting a routing loop or unexpected path. A route missing from this table for a VRF that should have it typically indicates a route redistribution or VRF leaking misconfiguration.
What Can Be Monitored
- global route table contents per VRF
- next-hop and metric per route
- route origin/tag
- VRF-to-route mapping
- route distinguisher/ISID association
