Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch SSH MIB for managing SSH server configuration, host keys, and authorized client access.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALCATEL-IND1-SSH-MIB?

ALCATEL-IND1-SSH-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch proprietary MIB for the switch's SSH subsystem, covering configuration of the SSH server, host keys, and authorized client access including SCP/SFTP file transfer and public-key enforcement. It exposes administrative status objects for SSH itself, for SCP/SFTP, and for whether public-key authentication is enforced. Its monitoring relevance is software/security status: an operator can confirm whether secure remote management (SSH) and secure file transfer are enabled, and whether the switch requires public-key authentication rather than allowing weaker password-only access. It builds on the standard SSH protocol (as defined by IETF RFCs) rather than defining new cryptographic mechanisms itself. It is deployed on every OmniSwitch device where SSH is used for secure CLI or file-transfer access instead of Telnet/FTP. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-SSH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll alaSshAdminStatus to confirm SSH is enabled as the management access method, and alaScpSftpAdminStatus to confirm secure file transfer is available for firmware or configuration uploads. Checking alaSshPubKeyEnforceAdminStatus would reveal whether the switch is enforcing public-key-only authentication; if unexpectedly disabled, it would indicate the device is more vulnerable to password-based brute-force attacks than intended. Together these three objects give a quick security-posture snapshot of the device's remote access configuration.

What Can Be Monitored
