Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch Ethernet OAM MIB for CFM-based connectivity fault management and performance monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-ETHERNET-OAM-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-ETHERNET-OAM-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch proprietary MIB implementing Ethernet OAM based on IEEE 802.1ag/ITU-T Y.1731 Connectivity Fault Management (CFM), providing fault detection and performance (delay) measurement between Maintenance End Points (MEPs). It exposes fault-management and performance data -- per-MEP one-way and two-way delay measurement results keyed by peer MAC address and remote MEP identifier, along with global and per-MEP statistics-clearing controls. Its monitoring focus is squarely on link/service fault and performance status rather than device hardware health: it lets operators detect connectivity loss or high latency between MEPs and reset accumulated OAM statistics after remediation. It is built directly on the IEEE 802.1ag / ITU-T Y.1731 CFM standards, extending them with Alcatel-specific delay-result and clear-stats objects. It is typically deployed on Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch enterprise or carrier Ethernet switches to monitor end-to-end Ethernet service health across a metro or campus network. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-ETHERNET-OAM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-ETHERNET-OAM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel/Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch enterprise/carrier Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls alaCfmMepTable (entries in alaCfmMepEntry) alongside alaCfmDelayResult objects such as alaCfmMepOWDTMacAddress and alaCfmMepOWDTRMepIdentifier to check the one-way delay measured to a specific remote MEP. A rising one-way or two-way delay value, or a MEP that stops responding, indicates a degrading or failed Ethernet path between sites; alaCfmGlobalClearStats/alaCfmMepClearStats let the operator reset counters after the issue is fixed to re-baseline monitoring.
What Can Be Monitored
- MEP one-way delay
- MEP two-way delay
- remote MEP identifier/MAC address
- CFM statistics counters
- global/per-MEP stats reset
