Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch Service Assurance Agent MIB for active performance testing with round-trip delay and jitter probes.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-SAA-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-SAA-MIB is an Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch Service Assurance Agent MIB for the Birds Of Prey product line, used to configure and retrieve results from active network performance tests, notably Ethernet OAM (802.1ag/Y.1731-style) probes. It exposes configuration tables for test parameters (target MEP ID/MAC, domain and association names, packet timeout, test mode) as well as results and history tables holding measured performance data. Its monitoring value lies squarely in software-driven performance diagnostics: it lets an administrator track round-trip delay, jitter, and reachability between endpoints as an ongoing health check of the data path, independent of any single device's own hardware. It is built on top of Ethernet CFM/OAM concepts (802.1ag) for defining maintenance domains and endpoints. It is deployed in Alcatel-Lucent switched networks, particularly metro-Ethernet or service-provider access networks, where SLA verification between switches is required. Engineers can download the ALCATEL-IND1-SAA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-SAA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch (Birds Of Prey product line)
Monitoring Examples
An operator configures a probe via alaSaaEthoamCtrlTable, setting alaSaaEthoamCtrlTgtMepId/alaSaaEthoamCtrlTgtMAC as the destination and alaSaaEthoamCtrlDomainName/alaSaaEthoamCtrlAssociationName to select the CFM maintenance association, then activates it with alaSaaEthoamCtrlRowStatus. Polling alaSaaEthoamResults and alaSaaEthoamHistory afterward reveals delay/jitter trends and would flag a service-affecting problem if round-trip times spike or timeouts (governed by alaSaaEthoamCtrlPktTimeOut) start occurring. This gives a continuous, per-path performance monitoring capability distinct from simple interface counters.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured OAM probe targets
- round-trip delay results
- jitter history
- probe timeout events
- test row status (active/inactive)
