What Is ADTRAN-MEF-PER-EVC-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB?

ADTRAN-MEF-PER-EVC-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB is an ADTRAN vendor MIB implementing MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum)-style per-Ethernet-Virtual-Circuit (EVC) traffic counters on AdtranOS Carrier Ethernet devices. It exposes high-capacity ingress traffic counters broken out by MEF color marking -- green (conforming), yellow (excess), and red (non-conforming/dropped) octets and frames -- per named EVC. Its monitoring value is service-level and performance tracking for Carrier Ethernet circuits rather than device hardware, letting an operator see exactly how much of a customer's traffic is within, exceeding, or being dropped against its committed bandwidth profile. It explicitly builds on Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) service and bandwidth-profile concepts, tying its color-based counters to that industry specification. The ADTRAN-MEF-PER-EVC-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB MIB is deployed on ADTRAN Carrier Ethernet access/aggregation devices at service-provider network edges where per-EVC SLA and bandwidth-profile compliance reporting is required.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-MEF-PER-EVC-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN Carrier Ethernet AOS device (EVC/service edge)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll adMefPerEvcTcTable, indexed by adMefPerEvcTcEvcNameFixedLen, to retrieve per-EVC counters for a specific Ethernet Virtual Circuit. Comparing adMefPerEvcTotalIngressGreenOctets/Frames against adMefPerEvcTotalIngressYellowOctets/Frames shows what fraction of traffic is conforming to the EVC's committed bandwidth profile versus exceeding it. A rising adMefPerEvcTotalIngressRedFrames count reveals traffic that is being dropped as non-conforming, signaling that the customer's usage has outgrown their current service plan and may need a rate upgrade.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-EVC ingress green (conforming) octets/frames
  • per-EVC ingress yellow (excess) octets/frames
  • per-EVC ingress red (non-conforming/dropped) frames
  • EVC identification
