What Is ADTRAN-FRPerform-MIB?

ADTRAN-FRPerform-MIB is an ADTRAN enterprise MIB for monitoring Frame Relay performance on ADTRAN WAN access devices such as routers and CSU/DSUs. It exposes historical and current interval-based performance data for Frame Relay PVCs (DLCIs), including status, statistics, and interval timing/counting objects. Its core purpose is performance and fault monitoring rather than hardware inventory: it lets an operator track how long the current measurement interval has been running, how many intervals have completed, and per-PVC operational state and statistics, revealing congestion, discards, or a DLCI going down within a Frame Relay circuit. It builds on the standard Frame Relay DTE MIB concept of interval-based performance history common to legacy WAN MIBs. It is deployed on ADTRAN routers and access devices connected to carrier Frame Relay networks, now largely in legacy WAN environments. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-FRPerform-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-FRPerform-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll adFRPerformCurrentPvcStatusTable / adFRPerformCurrentPvcStatusEntry, keyed by adFRPerformCurrentPvcIfIndex and adFRPerformCurrentPvcStatusIndex, to check adFRPerformCurrentPvcState for a given DLCI, confirming the PVC is active. Reading adFRPerformCurrentPvcStatistics alongside adFRPerformCurrentIntTimeRemaining shows performance counters accumulated so far in the active measurement window. A PVC whose adFRPerformCurrentPvcState changes from active to inactive, combined with a spike in discard-related statistics in adFRPerformIntPvcStatusTable, would indicate a failing or congested Frame Relay circuit.
