Description: Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) QoS MIB for quality of service queue configuration, traffic shaping, and priority management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HM2-QOS-MIB?
HM2-QOS-MIB is a Hirschmann private HiOS MIB covering Quality of Service (QoS) configuration on Hirschmann managed switches, governing how traffic is classified, prioritized, and scheduled across egress queues. Only its top-level structural nodes (the MIB's object and notification containers and conformance groups) were captured in the sampled data, but the module as a whole is expected to expose per-port and per-queue configuration such as priority mapping, scheduling discipline, and rate limiting beneath its objects branch. Its monitoring value is in confirming the software/configuration status of traffic prioritization - which QoS scheme is applied to a port or queue - and in catching any QoS-related fault notifications, rather than in tracking physical hardware. It builds on general 802.1p/DiffServ-style QoS concepts, comparable in spirit to the standard DIFFSERV-MIB. It is deployed on Hirschmann industrial switches that need to prioritize time-critical traffic (e.g. PTP or real-time control data) over best-effort traffic. Engineers can download the HM2-QOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
Only the structural nodes hm2QosMibObjects (the container for QoS configuration) and hm2QosMibNotifications (the container for QoS traps) appear in the sampled data, so specific queue or mapping table names cannot be confirmed here; in practice an administrator would descend into hm2QosMibObjects to inspect per-port queue/priority configuration and watch for notifications raised under hm2QosMibNotifications that would indicate a QoS enforcement problem.
What Can Be Monitored
- QoS configuration objects
- QoS-related notifications
- queue/priority configuration state
