Description: Manages SNMP agent configuration on ADTRAN AOS devices including community strings, trap destinations, and access controls.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTRAN-AOSSNMP?

ADTRAN-AOSSNMP is a vendor-specific MIB for ADTRAN AOS (AdtranOS) devices that manages the device's own SNMP agent configuration, including community strings, access privileges, and trap-destination management. It exposes a communities table (adAOSSNMPCommunitiesTable) with per-community string, privilege level, and row status, and a separate traps table (adAOSSNMPTrapsTable) defining trap-manager destination addresses and their row status. This is primarily a configuration/management-plane MIB rather than a hardware/performance monitor, its monitoring value lies in confirming that SNMP access control (which community strings exist and their privilege level) and notification delivery (which trap managers are configured and active) are set correctly, which is important for ensuring monitoring systems themselves stay correctly connected to the device. It is part of ADTRAN's AOS enterprise MIB suite and follows standard SNMPv2 SMI/community-based access conventions. It is typically deployed on ADTRAN AOS-based routers/switches in enterprise and carrier-access networks wherever SNMP-based management is used. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-AOSSNMP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOSSNMP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS (AdtranOS) router/switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll adAOSSNMPCommunitiesTable / adAOSSNMPCommunitiesEntry to audit adAOSSNMPCommunitiesString values and their adAOSSNMPCommunitiesPrivilege level, confirming no overly-permissive or unexpected community string is configured. Checking adAOSSNMPTrapsTable / adAOSSNMPTrapsMngmtAddr against adAOSSNMPTrapsStatus would reveal whether a trap destination has gone stale (status not active), which would explain why expected traps are not being received at a monitoring station. This MIB is used more for SNMP access/notification hygiene than for device performance monitoring.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SNMP community string configuration
  • community privilege level
  • trap destination address
  • trap/community row status
