Description: Apertus Technologies network policy gateway configuration and traffic policy management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is APERTUS-NPG-MIB?
APERTUS-NPG-MIB is a vendor-specific module from Apertus Technologies for their Network Policy Gateway, a network security/policy enforcement appliance. It exposes version information and a session table tracking the state of policy sessions, including expected vs. current state, last up/down timestamps, error codes/messages, and retry timing. Its monitoring focus is mainly software/session health: detecting sessions that have drifted from their expected state or that repeatedly fail with the same error, rather than classic hardware sensors. It uses only generic SNMPv2-SMI conventions and shows no notable dependency on other enterprise MIBs. It is deployed within policy/security gateway appliances enforcing network access policy at an enterprise network edge. Engineers can download the APERTUS-NPG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APERTUS-NPG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Apertus Technologies network policy gateway
Monitoring Examples
npgSessionTable/npgSessionEntry compares npgSessionCorrectState against npgSessionCurrentState to reveal a session that has drifted from its expected state. npgSessionWhenLastUp/npgSessionWhenLastDown alongside npgSessionLastErrorCode/npgSessionLastErrorMessage let an admin diagnose a session that keeps bouncing down with the same error code, while npgSessionTimeOfNextRetry shows when the gateway will next attempt recovery.
What Can Be Monitored
- session state (expected vs current)
- session last-error code/message
- session up/down timestamps
- time of next retry
- MIB/software version
