What Is ERA-MIB?

ERA-MIB is a proprietary MIB from ERA a.s. (Czech Republic) for its MSS (multi-static/multi-sensor surveillance) systems used in passive radar and air-traffic surveillance applications. It exposes overall and per-subsystem status objects covering multiple numbered systems, transmitter/processing units (TP), monitoring stations (MS), and a receiver processing unit (RPU), along with a single overall status summary. Its monitoring purpose is entirely hardware/software operational-status tracking for a specialized surveillance system: confirming each numbered system (1-4), each TP and MS unit, and the RPU are healthy, which is safety-critical given the system's use in air traffic monitoring. There's no indication of dependency on another standard MIB; this is a self-contained proprietary status model. It is deployed in ERA's passive coherent location / multi-static primary surveillance radar installations used by air navigation service providers and defense/security operators, who rely on the ERA-MIB MIB definitions to configure SNMP polling of these safety-critical systems.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll mssStatusOverall as the top-level health indicator, then drill into mssStatusSystem1 through mssStatusSystem4 to identify which specific subsystem is degraded. Checking mssStatusTP1/mssStatusTP2 and mssStatusMS1/mssStatusMS2 would localize a fault to a particular transmitter/processing or monitoring-station unit, while mssStatusRPU status would reveal a receiver-processing-unit fault affecting the whole surveillance picture. Any subsystem transitioning from a normal to a fault status would need immediate attention given the system's air-traffic-safety role.
