Description: Manages ITU-T Y.1731 Ethernet OAM performance monitoring configuration and results on ADTRAN AOS devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTRAN-AOS-Y1731-MIB?

ADTRAN-AOS-Y1731-MIB implements ITU-T Y.1731 Ethernet OAM performance-monitoring configuration and alarm reporting for ADTRAN AOS (AdtranOS) devices, building on standard Ethernet CFM/MEP concepts. It exposes a local Maintenance End Point table (adGenAosY1731LocalMepTable/adGenAosY1731LocalMepId) used to identify local Y.1731 monitoring points, along with an alarms group (adGenAosY1731Alarms) for reporting OAM-detected fault conditions. This MIB is centered on Ethernet service-level fault and performance monitoring, detecting connectivity faults, and by extension delay/loss performance issues, between maintenance points on the Ethernet OAM domain, functioning as a software-level health indicator for carrier Ethernet service continuity rather than device hardware sensors. It explicitly depends on the ITU-T Y.1731 standard and by extension the IEEE 802.1ag/ITU-T Y.1731 Connectivity Fault Management framework for its MEP model. It is typically deployed on ADTRAN AOS-based carrier Ethernet access/aggregation devices used to provide SLA-monitored Ethernet services. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-AOS-Y1731-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-AOS-Y1731-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS (AdtranOS) carrier Ethernet access/aggregation device

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll adGenAosY1731LocalMepTable / adGenAosY1731LocalMepEntry keyed by adGenAosY1731LocalMepId to confirm a local maintenance end point is correctly configured, and would watch adGenAosY1731Alarms for raised conditions indicating a loss of continuity or connectivity fault detected via Y.1731 OAM messages. A MEP reporting a persistent alarm would reveal an Ethernet service path fault between the local device and its remote peer that needs investigation. This gives carrier-grade Ethernet service assurance visibility on ADTRAN AOS platforms.

What Can Be Monitored

  • local MEP configuration/identity
  • Y.1731 OAM alarm status
  • connectivity fault detection
