Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: ACC/Ericsson

Description: Manages asynchronous interface parameters and modem dial-up configuration on ACC/Ericsson routers for legacy dial-access deployments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ACC-ASYNC?

ACC-ASYNC is an enterprise MIB for ACC/Ericsson routers covering asynchronous serial interfaces and modem/dial-up configuration used in legacy dial-access deployments. It exposes configuration objects for async port parameters, such as line speed, flow control, and modem dial-up settings, grouped under accAsync. While primarily configuration-oriented, it supports monitoring of the async port's operational readiness, since confirming a port is correctly configured and enabled is a basic hardware-status check for that interface. It is used alongside ACC-DIALMGMT, which handles higher-level dial policy, and ACC-CM, which handles connection management, to provide the full picture of dial-access session handling. It is deployed on ACC/Ericsson routers providing legacy async/modem dial-up access, such as remote branch or backup WAN links. Engineers can download the ACC-ASYNC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACC-ASYNC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ACC/Ericsson router (async/dial-up access)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls the accAsync group to verify an async port's configured line speed and modem settings match the expected profile for a given remote site, and to confirm the port is enabled and not administratively disabled. A misconfigured or disabled async port here would explain why a remote site's dial-backup link fails to establish when the primary WAN circuit goes down.

What Can Be Monitored

  • async port configuration (line speed, flow control)
  • modem dial-up settings
  • port administrative status
