Category: Frame Relay, Quality of Service, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages quality-of-service policies applied to Frame Relay PVCs on H3C wide-area network interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-FR-QOS-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-FR-QOS-MIB manages class-based Quality of Service for Frame Relay permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) on H3C wide-area routers, letting operators classify FR traffic and apply committed information rate (CIR) policies. Per its module_desc it is built around hwFrClassCfgInfoTable (FR class definitions), hwCirCfgInfoTable (CIR/bandwidth configuration), and hwIfApplyFrClassTable (mapping FR classes to specific interfaces). It supports monitoring of the QoS software feature's configuration and running state on Frame Relay WAN links, confirming which CIR/class policy is applied to a given interface and whether that policy is active, rather than monitoring physical hardware faults directly. Dependency: it is layered on top of the standard Frame Relay MIB interface-indexing model since classes are applied per Frame Relay interface. Deployment is on enterprise WAN routers using legacy Frame Relay circuits requiring differentiated QoS treatment for voice/data traffic classes, verified through A3COM-HUAWEI-FR-QOS-MIB SNMP monitoring of the applied CIR policies.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-FR-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com WAN routers with Frame Relay interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk hwFrClassCfgInfoTable to enumerate defined FR traffic classes, then check hwCirCfgInfoTable to confirm the committed information rate configured for a given class matches the contracted CIR from the carrier. Cross-referencing hwIfApplyFrClassTable would show which class is applied to a specific Frame Relay sub-interface, and a mismatch there, such as voice traffic mapped to a best-effort class, would explain reports of poor call quality over that PVC.

What Can Be Monitored

  • defined FR traffic class configuration
  • committed information rate (CIR) per class
  • FR class-to-interface mapping
