What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-FTM-MIB?
A3COM-HUAWEI-FTM-MIB is a Huawei-3Com (H3C) private MIB for Fabric Topology Management (FTM), which underlies H3C's XRN-Fabric stacking/IRF technology for combining multiple chassis into a single logical switching fabric. Its core h3cFtmUnitTable, indexed by h3cFtmIndex, tracks each stack member's h3cFtmUnitID, h3cFtmUnitName, h3cFtmUnitRole (master(0) or slave(1)), and h3cFtmNumberMode (automatic(0) or manual(1) unit-ID assignment), while separate scalars cover fabric-wide authentication (h3cFtmAuthMode: none/simple/md5, h3cFtmAuthValue), the h3cFtmFabricVlanID used for inter-chassis fabric traffic, and h3cFtmFabricType describing the physical topology (outofStack, line, ring, mesh). Two notifications, h3cFtmUnitIDChange and h3cFtmUnitNameChange, alert management systems when a stack member's identity changes, which is significant because unexpected ID/name churn often signals a fabric renegotiation after a link or unit failure. It depends on A3COM-HUAWEI-OID-MIB for its registration point, and is deployed on H3C switches/routers participating in an XRN-Fabric/IRF stack, and administrators can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-FTM-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-FTM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C (Huawei-3Com) switches/routers using XRN-Fabric/IRF stacking
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls h3cFtmUnitTable to confirm exactly one unit reports h3cFtmUnitRole master(0) and checks h3cFtmFabricType against the expected ring or mesh topology; an unexpected h3cFtmUnitIDChange notification for a unit that was not intentionally re-provisioned would indicate an inter-chassis link failure forced a fabric renumbering, potentially splitting the stack.
What Can Be Monitored
- stack unit ID and role (master/slave)
- unit ID numbering mode (automatic/manual)
- fabric topology type (line/ring/mesh)
- fabric authentication mode
- fabric VLAN ID
- unit ID/name change notifications
