What Is ZTE-AN-PPPOE-CONTROL-MIB?
ZTE-AN-PPPOE-CONTROL-MIB manages PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet) session control on ZTE Access Node equipment, governing how many and how fast PPPoE sessions are allowed to be established per subscriber, port, or the device as a whole. It exposes configuration data for PPPoE session-count limits and rate-limiting policies, along with status objects reflecting current active session counts against those configured limits. Its monitoring value is in subscriber-service capacity and abuse detection: an operator watches active PPPoE session counts approaching configured limits to plan capacity, and a subscriber or port hitting its session-count or rate limit repeatedly can indicate a misbehaving client, a PPPoE session-flooding condition, or a misconfigured CPE. It is a ZTE-proprietary control MIB built on top of standard PPPoE (RFC 2516) session semantics rather than importing an IETF PPPoE MIB. It is deployed on ZTE access nodes serving PPPoE-based broadband subscribers, monitored by operations teams managing session capacity and abuse mitigation. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ZTE-AN-PPPOE-CONTROL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZTE-AN-PPPOE-CONTROL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ZTE Access Node (PPPoE broadband access)
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module; based on the description, an admin would poll the current active PPPoE session count per port or subscriber against its configured session-limit and rate-limit policy objects, using a client repeatedly hitting its limit as a sign of session flooding or a misconfigured CPE.
What Can Be Monitored
- active PPPoE session count
- session count limits
- session rate-limiting policy
