Description: Manages Zhone Technologies pseudowire bundle configuration, member PW status, and load-balancing parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHONE-PW-BUNDLE-MIB?

ZHONE-PW-BUNDLE-MIB is the Zhone Technologies module for managing pseudowire (PW) DS0 bundle definitions, where multiple DS0 timeslots are grouped into a single logical circuit-emulation pseudowire. It exposes categories of data covering pseudowire bundle configuration, individual member PW/DS0 status within a bundle, and load-balancing parameters across bundle members. Its monitoring value lies in service-continuity assurance: checking member PW status reveals whether all DS0 channels in a bundle are up, since a failed member can degrade bundle capacity or cause bit-rate mismatches on the emulated circuit -- a software/protocol health indicator for TDM-over-packet services. It depends on pseudowire emulation standards (PWE3, e.g., IETF/MFA Forum conventions) for the underlying transport model. It is typically deployed on Zhone access/aggregation equipment providing TDM circuit emulation over a packet-switched network. Engineers can download the ZHONE-PW-BUNDLE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-PW-BUNDLE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies TDM/pseudowire access or aggregation device

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll the pseudowire bundle table to confirm all member DS0 pseudowires report an up/active status, and would flag a bundle as degraded if one member PW is down, since this reduces available bandwidth on the emulated circuit. Load-balancing parameters would be checked to confirm traffic is being distributed evenly across the remaining active members after a member failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • pseudowire bundle configuration
  • member PW/DS0 status
  • load-balancing distribution across bundle members
  • bundle capacity/degradation state
