What Is XEROX-JOB-MONITORING-EXT-MIB?

This Xerox proprietary MIB extends the PWG Job Monitoring MIB (RFC 2707) with additional XCMI-specific objects for print job administration on Xerox devices. It exposes job-related counters such as jobs created, jobs completed, job operations performed, and job-related traps sent, plus a job administration table supporting operations like cancel or hold on individual jobs. This gives administrators direct visibility into the software status of the print queue/job subsystem, letting them track job throughput and detect stalled or failing print jobs. The module explicitly builds on and maps to the IETF/PWG Job Monitoring MIB (RFC 2707), making that a required companion standard. It is deployed on Xerox printers and multifunction devices in enterprise print environments, where XEROX-JOB-MONITORING-EXT-MIB SNMP monitoring provides detailed job-level visibility and control.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEROX-JOB-MONITORING-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • jobs created count
  • jobs completed count
  • job operation count
  • job-related trap count
  • job administration operations
  • job accounting support

Supported Devices

  • Xerox printers and multifunction devices in enterprise print environments

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll xcmJmxGeneralTable/xcmJmxGeneralEntry for xcmJmxGeneralJobCreatedCount versus xcmJmxGeneralJobCompletedCount to spot a growing backlog of uncompleted jobs, and check xcmJmxGeneralJobTrapCount for a surge in job-related traps signaling repeated failures. The xcmJmxJobAdminTable/xcmJmxJobAdminEntry with xcmJmxJobAdminOperation lets an operator issue or observe administrative actions (e.g., cancel) against a specific stuck job.

RFC description

A Xerox XCMI vendor-extension MIB module that provides job administration and job notifications for Xerox printing systems implementing the standard PWG Job Monitoring MIB (RFC 2707), augmenting print-job state, job octets, and impressions tracking with Xerox-proprietary objects and conformance groups.

Start monitoring Xerox printers and multifunction devices in enterprise print environments (job-count/job-administration status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
