What Is XEROX-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC?

XEROX-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC is a Xerox XCMI (Xerox Common Management Interface) textual-conventions module that extends the IETF Host Resources MIB (RFC 2790) with types and enumerations for Xerox multifunction printers and network-attached hosts. Rather than defining runtime instance data itself, it supplies the enumerated status, condition, and command types used by companion Xerox device MIBs to describe physical and logical device 'realizations'. It underpins monitoring of hardware and software device status such as device operational state (xCmHrDevInfoStatus/xCmHrDevInfoXStatus), fault conditions (xCmHrDevInfoConditions/xCmHrDevInfoXConditions), and remote management command execution/results. It explicitly builds on and extends RFC 2790 (Host Resources MIB) and follows ISO DPA (Document Printing Application) conventions, and its enumerations are registered under the XEROX-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC OID branch that companion Xerox device MIBs import directly. Deployment context is Xerox network printers and multifunction devices managed via SNMP fleet-management tools.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEROX-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. Monitoring Examples

A management application would use the enumerations defined here to interpret values returned by companion Xerox MIBs' device status objects, e.g. mapping xCmHrDevInfoStatus/xCmHrDevInfoXStatus codes to human-readable states like warming-up, ready, or fault, and xCmHrDevInfoConditions to specific alert conditions. xCmHrDevMgmtCommandRequest/xCmHrDevMgmtCommandData types would be used to issue remote commands (e.g. reset) and read back the tagged response via xCmHrDevMgmtCommandDataTag. As a pure textual-conventions module it defines no pollable object instances of its own; it is honestly a TC/type-definition module consumed by other Xerox MIBs rather than a source of live counters.
