What Is Wellfleet-RREDUND-MIB?

Wellfleet-RREDUND-MIB is a Wellfleet (a Bay Networks/Nortel predecessor) proprietary enterprise MIB for managing router redundancy, defining standby router state and failover event statistics. It covers redundancy configuration such as primary/standby role assignment, the current state of redundant router pairs, and counters for failover events. It is strongly hardware/software status oriented: it reports which router in a redundant pair is currently active versus standby and tracks how many failover events have occurred, both critical for detecting an unplanned router failure or a flapping redundancy protocol. It predates and is conceptually similar to later standardized redundancy protocols such as VRRP/HSRP, but is entirely proprietary to Wellfleet's own router software with no formal standards dependency. It was deployed on legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers configured in pairs for high-availability WAN/LAN routing in the 1990s. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-RREDUND-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
