Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks System Management

Description: Monitors Wellfleet MPLS LDP sessions, label bindings, and forwarding equivalence class statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Wellfleet-MPLS-LDP-MIB?

Wellfleet-MPLS-LDP-MIB is a Wellfleet/Bay Networks vendor extension for managing MPLS Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) sessions used to establish label-switched paths between routers. It exposes LDP session configuration and state, label binding information, and forwarding equivalence class (FEC) statistics tied to each session. As a monitoring tool it lets an administrator confirm LDP sessions between neighboring MPLS routers are established and stable, which is critical software/protocol-state health information for an MPLS core, since a down or flapping LDP session breaks label-switched forwarding. It aligns with (and is a vendor precursor/complement to) the later IETF MPLS-LDP-STD-MIB, tracking similar session and binding concepts in Wellfleet's own object tree. It is deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers acting as label switch routers (LSRs) in an MPLS-enabled backbone. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-MPLS-LDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-MPLS-LDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Wellfleet/Bay Networks router
  • MPLS label switch router (LSR)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll wfMplsLdpSessCfgEntry rows to check each configured LDP session's enable state, local/remote IP address, and TCP port, confirming the session parameters via wfMplsLdpSessCfgLocalIpAddress and wfMplsLdpSessCfgRemoteIpAddress match the intended peer relationship. If wfMplsLdpSessCfgEnable shows a session disabled, or wfMplsLdpSessCfgCreate/wfMplsLdpSessCfgSlot indicate a session was never provisioned on the expected slot, that would explain a missing label-switched path to that neighbor. The wfMplsLdpSessCfgRoutesConfigMode object would also be checked to confirm whether routes are learned dynamically or configured statically for that session.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LDP session enable/create status
  • local and remote LDP peer addresses
  • LDP TCP port configuration
  • LDP session slot/circuit assignment
  • route configuration mode per session
