Description: Manages Wellfleet Network Management Layer parameters for policy distribution and configuration synchronization.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Wellfleet-NML-MIB?
Wellfleet-NML-MIB (Wellfleet Communications, later merged into Bay Networks/Nortel) is a legacy proprietary MIB for the Network Management Layer (NML) subsystem, used to manage policy distribution and configuration synchronization across Wellfleet routers. No module description or sample objects were captured in the source data, so its object-level structure cannot be detailed here. Based on its name and short description, it would have exposed status of configuration/policy synchronization jobs between a management station and managed routers — success/failure state and timing — rather than hardware sensors like temperature or fans. As an early enterprise router-vendor MIB, it predates and is unrelated to IETF standard MIBs, sitting entirely in Wellfleet's private enterprise OID branch. It would have been deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers in enterprise WAN backbones during the 1990s, a now-obsolete legacy platform. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-NML-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-NML-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Wellfleet/Bay Networks router (legacy)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects or module description text were available for this MIB, so no specific object/table names can be cited. Based on the short description, a plausible use would have been polling for the status or last result of a configuration/policy distribution job across managed routers, but this cannot be confirmed from the available data.
