Category: World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet
Description: Defines World Wide Packets SNMP framework extensions for management engine identification and message processing.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WWP-SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB?
This World Wide Packets proprietary MIB extends the standard SNMP framework (SNMPv3 architecture) with vendor-specific objects for identifying the local SNMP engine and controlling message-processing behavior on WWP devices. It is a management/configuration MIB rather than a data/telemetry MIB, exposing SNMP engine identification and processing-model parameters. It has minimal direct bearing on hardware/software health monitoring itself, but correct configuration here is a prerequisite for all other MIB polling to succeed, since it governs the SNMP transport layer the monitoring system depends on. It explicitly extends and complements the IETF standard SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB (RFC 3411). It is deployed on all WWP devices as foundational SNMP infrastructure, with the WWP-SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB MIB installed alongside the vendor's functional MIBs.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet switch/router
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module in the source data, and this MIB is fundamentally infrastructure/configuration rather than a runtime telemetry source. A realistic use is confirming the SNMP engine ID and message-processing configuration are correctly set on a device before relying on it as a polling target for other MIBs, rather than any specific fault-detection scenario.
What Can Be Monitored
- SNMP engine identification
- message-processing model configuration

RFC description
Vendor-specific extension of the SNMP Framework MIB for WWP (vendor-private) SNMP management architecture.
Start monitoring World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet switch/router (SNMP-engine identification/message-processing config status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
