What Is WWP-LEOS-DATAPLANE-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-DATAPLANE-MIB is a Ciena (formerly World Wide Packets) proprietary MIB for LEOS-based Metro Ethernet switches that models the data-plane traffic-shaping and class-of-service (CoS) mapping subsystem, covering egress queue-group scheduling, CoS mapping tables, and per-queue statistics. It exposes performance/statistics data (egress queue-group Q statistics), configuration data (WDRR scheduler granularity, CoS mapping tables for 802.1p, DEI, MPLS-TC, and frame markings), and shaping parameters like port shaper burst sizes. Monitoring it reveals the software/forwarding-plane performance of the switch's QoS engine: queue statistics show whether queues are congested or dropping traffic, a performance-counter style health indicator distinct from physical hardware sensors. It builds on IEEE 802.1p/802.1ad CoS concepts and MPLS traffic-class marking standards for its mapping model, in addition to belonging to the broader WWP-LEOS proprietary MIB family. It is deployed on Ciena/WWP Metro Ethernet switches requiring granular QoS shaping and CoS remarking at the network edge. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-DATAPLANE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An operator would poll wwpLeosDpTsQEgressPortQueueGroupQStatsTable entries per egress queue group to track queue/drop counters and spot congestion on a specific CoS queue, and check wwpLeosDpTsDot1dCosMapTable, wwpLeosDpTsDot1dDeiCosMapTable, and wwpLeosDpTsMplsTcCosMapTable to confirm incoming 802.1p, DEI, and MPLS-TC markings map to the correct internal queue, alongside wwpLeosDpTsFrameCosMapTable for frame-based CoS assignment. A spike in drops on the queue stats table combined with a coarse wwpLeosDpTsQEgressPortQueueGroupWdrrSchedulerGranularity setting could indicate the WDRR scheduler is too coarse-grained for the offered traffic mix.
