What Is WWP-LEOS-8021X-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-8021X-MIB is a Ciena (formerly World Wide Packets) proprietary MIB for LEOS-based Metro Ethernet switches that configures IEEE 802.1X port-based network access control. It exposes port-based authentication configuration, supplicant authentication state, and RADIUS server integration parameters, i.e., configuration and authentication-state data rather than raw traffic counters. Monitoring this MIB lets an operator check the software authentication state of each port (authorized/unauthorized) and confirm the RADIUS backend integration is functioning, a service-status use case relevant to detecting authentication outages before users are locked out. It is intrinsically dependent on the IEEE 802.1X standard and interoperates with RADIUS for its authentication model, in addition to belonging to the broader WWP-LEOS proprietary MIB family. It is deployed on Ciena/WWP Metro Ethernet access switches enforcing port-based network access control for connecting customer or enterprise devices. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-8021X-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-8021X-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port 802.1X authorization state
  • supplicant authentication status
  • RADIUS server integration/reachability
  • 802.1X enable/disable per port

Supported Devices

  • Ciena (formerly World Wide Packets) LEOS-based Metro Ethernet service delivery switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module in the source data. In general, an 802.1X MIB of this type exposes a per-interface table tracking supplicant PAE state and port authorization status, which an operator would poll to spot ports stuck in an unauthorized state, often indicating an unreachable RADIUS server or misconfigured credentials.
