Category: NETGEAR Wireless

Description: Defines NETGEAR WG302 dual-band 802.11a/b/g wireless access point management objects for status and client monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WG302?

WG302 is a Netgear enterprise-specific MIB (registered under the netgear.wireless.wg302 OID branch) for the ProSafe WG302, a dual-band 802.11a/b/g wireless access point. It exposes management data covering device identification, IP/network configuration, and wireless radio and client information for the AP. It supports monitoring of the device's hardware and software status by exposing configuration and operational state that confirms the AP is online, reachable, and correctly configured, alongside its wireless client/radio activity. As an early vendor-specific module it defines its own object tree under the Netgear enterprise OID rather than leaning heavily on IETF standard MIBs. It is typically deployed in small-to-medium business wireless networks where IT staff manage one or more WG302 access points via SNMP alongside Netgear's ProSafe management tools. Engineers can download the WG302 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WG302. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • NETGEAR ProSafe WG302 wireless access point

Monitoring Examples

No concrete object names were supplied for this MIB, but it is the counterpart of the more fully documented WG302-MIB for the same access point family. An admin would be expected to poll device identification and IP/network configuration objects analogous to WG302-MIB's apName and ipAddr to confirm the AP responds and its address is correct, and radio/client statistics objects to gauge wireless load. A configuration object reverting to defaults or a client-count object dropping to zero would indicate the AP lost its settings or radio connectivity.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device identification/name
  • IP/network configuration
  • wireless radio/channel settings
  • associated client count/statistics
