Category: NETGEAR Wireless
Description: Defines NETGEAR WG102 802.11a/b/g wireless access point management objects for monitoring radio status and client associations.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WG102?
WG102 is NETGEAR's vendor-specific MIB for the WG102 802.11a/b/g ProSafe wireless access point, part of NETGEAR's enterprise wireless product line. It exposes radio-level configuration and status objects along with client association data, covering the wireless-specific hardware/software state of the AP rather than generic system data. Its monitoring value lies in confirming the radio subsystem's health and activity — signal/channel status of the 802.11 radio and the number/state of associated wireless clients — which helps an administrator spot a radio that has dropped offline or is oversubscribed with clients. As an enterprise-registered NETGEAR MIB (under the iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.netgear.wireless.wg102 OID branch) it is self-contained but conceptually complements standard IEEE 802.11/dot11 MIB objects for wireless statistics. It is typically deployed in small-to-midsize office wireless deployments using NETGEAR ProSafe APs, polled by a wireless management console to track AP and client health. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the WG102 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WG102. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NETGEAR WG102 ProSafe wireless access point
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the radio status objects under the wg102 enterprise tree to confirm the 802.11b/g radio is up and operating on its configured channel, alerting if the radio unexpectedly goes offline. Client association tables would be checked to see the current number of associated wireless clients and flag an AP that has hit its client capacity, indicating a need to add another AP nearby. Because no explicit sample objects were captured for this module, exact table names are inferred from the MIB's stated purpose of monitoring radio status and client associations.
What Can Be Monitored
- radio operational status
- wireless channel
- associated client count
- client association state
