Category: NETGEAR Wireless

Description: Manages NETGEAR WG302 wireless access point settings, radio channel configuration, and associated client statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WG302-MIB?

WG302-MIB is Netgear's enterprise-specific MIB (netgear.wireless.accesspoint OID branch) for managing the ProSafe WG302, a dual-band 802.11a/b/g wireless access point. It exposes configuration data such as device/admin identity, DHCP and static IP/netmask/gateway settings, DNS servers, spanning tree state, wireless LAN settings, and remote-management settings, along with client/traffic statistics. It supports monitoring of the AP's hardware and software operational status through its network configuration objects (confirming correct addressing and reachability) and its statistic objects (revealing wireless traffic and client load), effectively serving as the AP's health and configuration snapshot. As a self-contained Netgear enterprise module it does not lean on IETF standard MIBs like IF-MIB, defining its own apName/ipAddr-style object set instead. It is deployed in small-to-medium business wireless networks, where WG302-MIB SNMP monitoring lets administrators remotely verify and troubleshoot WG302 access points' network settings and wireless activity.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WG302-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • NETGEAR ProSafe WG302 wireless access point

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll apName and ipAddr/netmaskAddr/gatewayAddr to confirm the AP is reachable at its expected address, and dhcpStatus to verify whether it obtained its address via DHCP or static configuration. The wlanSettingTable/wlanSettingEntry would be checked to confirm radio and SSID configuration is as expected, while the statistic object is watched for traffic anomalies such as a sudden drop in client activity. If spantree state is unexpectedly disabled on a bridged deployment, it could indicate a misconfiguration risking a network loop.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device/admin identity and IP configuration
  • DHCP status
  • DNS server settings
  • spanning tree state
  • wireless LAN/radio settings
  • traffic/client statistics
