Description: Manages Nokia Tropic Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) timing source selection and quality level.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TROPIC-SYNCE-MIB?

TROPIC-SYNCE-MIB is a Nokia (Tropic optical-transport platform, built on TROPIC-SHELF-MIB/TROPIC-SLOT-MIB) proprietary MIB configuring Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) clock references. Its table, keyed by shelf/slot, records sync message, active reference, WTR (Wait-To-Restore) timer, switch-command-line reference, clock-mode state, and system QL (Quality Level), while a line-reference table records index, assigned port, priority, admin/operational state, lock-out flag, reference state (and switch state), incoming SSM (Synchronization Status Message) and its status/suppression, provisioned QL, associated port, and station-clock priority/lock-out. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which line reference is providing the active SyncE clock source and its quality level on a Nokia Tropic optical-transport platform. It is deployed on Nokia Tropic optical-transport platforms (Synchronous Ethernet). Engineers can download the TROPIC-SYNCE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-SYNCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia Tropic optical-transport platforms (Synchronous Ethernet)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks tnSyncEActiveRef and tnSyncESystemQL to confirm the active SyncE clock source and quality level on a Nokia Tropic optical-transport platform.
