Description: Manages Nokia Tropic GMPLS control plane interface configuration and status for optical transport.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TROPIC-GMPLS-CPIF-MIB?
This module manages GMPLS (Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching) control plane interfaces on Nokia's Tropic Networks optical transport platform, defining the configuration and status objects for the interfaces that participate in the GMPLS control plane used to signal and provision optical paths. It exposes control-plane interface configuration (e.g., interface enablement, addressing, and role) and operational status data, rather than raw hardware sensor readings. Its monitoring relevance is primarily to control-plane and software health: administrators use it to verify that GMPLS signaling interfaces are up and correctly configured, since a misconfigured or down control-plane interface can prevent automatic optical path provisioning/restoration even if the underlying hardware is healthy. It builds on IETF GMPLS/MPLS standards concepts (as adapted by Tropic for its optical platform) and interoperates with the companion TROPIC-GMPLS-NOTIFICATION-MIB, which reports control-plane events for these interfaces. It is deployed in carrier DWDM/optical transport networks that use GMPLS-based dynamic control planes for automated circuit provisioning and restoration. Engineers can download the TROPIC-GMPLS-CPIF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-GMPLS-CPIF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia (Tropic Networks) DWDM optical transport network element with GMPLS control plane
Monitoring Examples
No concrete sample objects were provided for this module; based on its documented purpose, an operator would typically poll per-interface configuration and operational-status objects for each GMPLS control-plane interface to confirm signaling adjacencies are established, flagging any interface stuck in a down or misconfigured state that would block automated path setup/restoration.
What Can Be Monitored
- GMPLS control-plane interface status
- control-plane interface configuration/enablement
