Description: Manages Nokia Tropic GMPLS label-switched path provisioning and status in optical transport networks.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TROPIC-GMPLS-LSP-MIB?

TROPIC-GMPLS-LSP-MIB is a Nokia MIB (from the Tropic/1830 WDM product line, formerly Alcatel-Lucent) for provisioning and monitoring GMPLS label-switched paths (LSPs) in optical transport networks, extended to support Layer 0 (photonic/wavelength) switching for the 1830 R7.0 WDM platform. It exposes configuration and operational data describing GMPLS LSP setup, routing, and status across DWDM/optical network elements. This MIB is used to monitor the software/control-plane status of optical LSPs, letting operators confirm an LSP is successfully signaled and up, or detect a failed or degraded path that would disrupt an optical circuit. It builds on the broader GMPLS/MPLS-TE MIB framework and relies on the underlying optical transport (WDM/L0) topology and TE-link MIBs for its data model. It is typically deployed in metro/core optical transport networks where Nokia 1830 WDM platforms provide dynamically routed optical connectivity. Engineers can download the TROPIC-GMPLS-LSP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TROPIC-GMPLS-LSP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia 1830 WDM optical transport platform
  • GMPLS-capable optical network element

Monitoring Examples

No sample object or table names were provided for this module, so a concrete monitoring walkthrough cannot be grounded in real identifiers; generally an operator would poll per-LSP state objects to verify an optical GMPLS LSP remains signaled and up, and would be alerted if a path transitioned to a down or failed state due to a fiber cut or node failure.
