Description: Manages Trapeze Networks WLAN controller switch port configuration and operational status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-PORT-MIB?

TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-PORT-MIB is a vendor MIB from Trapeze Networks covering the physical switch port configuration of its wireless LAN controllers. It exposes per-port configuration and operational data: port mode, Power over Ethernet (PoE) mode, and trunk master assignment, indexed per physical port number. Its monitoring value is focused on network interface configuration/software status rather than deep hardware sensor data, letting administrators confirm each port's operating mode and PoE state match intended deployment (important since PoE typically powers attached access points). It complements TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-BASIC-MIB and the chassis-registration MIB to give a full view of the controller's physical connectivity. It is deployed in enterprise WLAN environments where Trapeze wireless controllers' uplink and PoE-powered AP ports need SNMP-based configuration verification, and administrators can download the TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-PORT-MIB file to load it into their monitoring tools.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-PORT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Trapeze Networks wireless LAN controller (Access Controller)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll trpzPortConfigTable/trpzPortConfigEntry (indexed by trpzPortConfigPortNumber) to check trpzPortConfigPortMode and trpzPortConfigPoeMode for each port, confirming ports intended to power access points have PoE enabled. The trpzPortConfigTrunkMaster field would be checked to confirm trunk group assignments are correct. A port expected to supply PoE to an AP but showing PoE mode disabled would explain why that AP is failing to power up.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port operating mode
  • per-port PoE mode/state
  • trunk master port assignment
