Category: Network Interface Management

Description: Manages TP-Link switch port mirroring source and destination port configuration for traffic analysis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPLINK-PORTMIRROR-MIB?

TPLINK-PORTMIRROR-MIB is a TP-Link private MIB for configuring port mirroring, a diagnostic feature that copies traffic from one or more source ports to a designated destination port for analysis with a network sniffer or monitoring tool. It exposes configuration objects defining which source port(s) and traffic direction are mirrored and which destination port receives the copied traffic. Its monitoring value is purely configuration status - confirming which mirroring sessions are currently configured and active - it does not itself produce hardware or performance telemetry, though it is the tool an operator uses to enable deeper packet-level troubleshooting of hardware/software issues elsewhere. It has no dependency beyond the switch's own standard ifIndex convention to identify source/destination ports. It is deployed on TP-Link managed switches whenever an administrator needs to capture and analyze live traffic for troubleshooting. Engineers can download the TPLINK-PORTMIRROR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-PORTMIRROR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TP-Link managed switch

Monitoring Examples

Specific table/object names were not present in the provided sample, so a concrete polling example is not grounded in real identifiers; based on the module description, an administrator would check the configured port mirroring session to confirm the correct source port(s) and traffic direction are being copied to the intended destination/monitor port before attaching a packet analyzer.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured mirror source port(s)
  • mirrored traffic direction
  • destination/monitor port assignment
