Description:

The value of the object iesIfDefaultSecondaryDnsIPv4Addr specifies the IPv4 address of the default secondary DNS server for the subscribers using this interface.

Subscribers that cannot obtain an IPv4 DNS server addres by other means, can use this for DNS name resolution.

The object iesIfDefaultSecondaryDnsIPv4Addr can only be set to a nonzero value if the value of iesIfType is 'subscriber'.

What is iesIfDefaultSecondaryDnsIPv4Addr?

This holds the IPv4 address of a backup DNS server (e.g., 8.8.8.8) in dotted-quad format. When customers can't find their primary DNS, the system falls back to this one. An operator sets this to Google or Cloudflare DNS to keep subscriber internet working if the ISP's primary resolver fails.
