sdpBindDHCPLseStateOverride
Module: TIMETRA-SDP-MIB
OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-SDP-MIB::sdpBindDHCPLseStateOverride
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.4.4.0.11
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description: The sdpBindDHCPLseStateOverride notification is generated when an existing DHCP lease state is overridden by a new lease state which has the same IP address but a different MAC address. This trap is only applicable for IES and VPRN spoke-SDPs.
What is sdpBindDHCPLseStateOverride?
This notification (alert) is triggered when a DHCP lease for a service binding is changed to a new state that has the same IP address but a different MAC address than the previous lease. This situation is unusual and indicates a potential MAC spoofing or device substitution event. Network operators use this alert to detect security issues or unusual network behavior on spoke-SDPs (Service Distribution Points) in IES and VPRN service types.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' TIMETRA-SDP-MIB::sdpBindDHCPLseStateOverride snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.4.4.0.11
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
Example snmptrapd log entry:
