Description: The value of sapIpipeMacRefreshInterval specifies the interval between successive attempts to refresh the MAC address of the CE device associated with an Ethernet ipipe SAP. If no other event (such as reception of an ARP request from the CE) occurs that would refresh the MAC address before the end of the interval, an ARP request will be originated from the IPIPE SAP.
What is sapIpipeMacRefreshInterval?
This timer (in seconds) controls how often the system refreshes the MAC address of a Customer Edge device connected via an Ethernet IPIPE (IP Pipe) service attachment point. An operator tunes this interval to maintain accurate MAC address associations while minimizing unnecessary ARP traffic on the CE link. Too-short intervals waste bandwidth with excessive ARP probes; too-long intervals risk stale address entries after CE reboots.
