tmnxAlarmAdminState

Module: TIMETRA-ALARM-MIB

OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-ALARM-MIB::tmnxAlarmAdminState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.77.2.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TmnxEnabledDisabled

Access: read-write

Description: The value of tmnxAlarmAdminState specifies whether or not alarm management is enabled on the system. As a result of setting tmnxAlarmAdminState to 'disabled(2)', all alarms present in MIB table ALARM-MIB::alarmActiveTable will be cleared, all rows in MIB table ALARM-MIB::alarmClearTable will be destroyed, and no new alarms will be raised.

What is tmnxAlarmAdminState?

This value turns the system's alarm management feature on or off; setting it to disabled clears every currently active alarm from the alarm table, destroys all rows in the alarm-clear history table, and stops the system from raising any new alarms going forward. Administrators would typically only disable this in unusual circumstances, such as during a maintenance window where a flood of expected alarms would otherwise clutter monitoring, since it wipes existing alarm state. For example, setting this object to disabled during a planned outage would immediately clear the alarm table so the maintenance activity doesn't generate noise for the monitoring team.
